Current Capacity vs Future Plans

The C-390 assembly line is currently configured to deliver a maximum of 18 aircraft annually. However, in 2024, Embraer expects to deliver only four units. This doesn't reflect a limitation of the assembly line itself, but rather constraints within the supply chain, a common hurdle for many manufacturers today.

The good news is Embraer has a clear vision for the future. They are committed to a steady increase in production, with plans to quadruple output by 2030. This translates to a six-unit target for 2025, followed by seven in 2027, and finally reaching a significant 12 aircraft per year by the end of the decade.

Driving the Ramp Up

Several factors are propelling Embraer's production ramp-up strategy. Growing interest from potential buyers is a key driver. Countries like India have expressed strong interest in acquiring the C-390, with discussions for potentially up to 40 units. These potential new clients, coupled with existing orders, are creating a strong demand signal for Embraer.

Embraer's Confidence in the C-390

Embraer's decision to ramp up production reflects their confidence in the C-390's capabilities. The aircraft has consistently proven its worth, accumulating over 13,000 flight hours with exceptional operational availability and mission success rates. This strong performance is undoubtedly attracting the attention of air forces around the world.

Looking Ahead

Embraer's plans for the C-390 production line signal a bright future for this versatile military transport aircraft. With a focus on overcoming supply chain hurdles and a clear roadmap for increased production, Embraer is poised to meet the growing demand for the C-390. As new clients come on board and existing orders are fulfilled, the skies will likely see a significant increase in C-390s in the years to come.
