Flightstar's Ambitious Expansion Plans: New Aircraft Hangar Signals Growth

Flightstar, a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider based in Central Illinois, is embarking on a significant expansion initiative at Willard Airport (KCMI) in Illinois. The company plans to construct a new hangar, named Hangar 11, to accommodate aircraft storage. This facility is specifically designated to house managed aircraft and to alleviate the demand for storage space by freeing up existing hangars for maintenance operations.

This strategic reallocation effectively doubles Flightstar's capacity for aircraft maintenance operations, which is crucial for meeting both current and future service requirements. Hangar 11, upon its anticipated completion later this year, will contribute an additional 28,000 square feet of shelter space for aircraft, thereby augmenting Flightstar’s total managed hangar area to over 142,000 square feet.

Flightstar President, William Giannetti, expressed excitement about the expansion, emphasizing its importance in optimizing the company's infrastructure and enhancing services for clients. Giannetti stated, "We’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our campus with the construction of this new aircraft storage hangar. This addition allows us to streamline our existing infrastructure while continuing to provide exceptional services for our clients."

The infrastructure development is already underway, with the hangar construction expected to commence shortly. The Dodds Company, based in Champaign, Illinois, is overseeing the project and aims to complete the facility by the fourth quarter.
