Fasten your seatbelts, aviation enthusiasts! CMA CGM Cargo is about to take its airfreight operations to new heights. The French shipping and logistics giant is expecting a major boost to its fleet this June with the arrival of not one, not two, but three Boeing 777 freighters.

This exciting development marks a significant step forward for CMA CGM's dedicated air cargo division, launched in 2021. These state-of-the-art 777s boast impressive capabilities, including extended range and high payload capacity, allowing CMA CGM to reach new destinations and efficiently transport a wider variety of cargo.
This isn't CMA CGM's first foray into air cargo. They launched their dedicated air freight division, CMA CGM Air Cargo, in February 2021. The company already boasts a fleet of A330 freighters, but the arrival of the 777s marks a significant leap forward.
Why the 777 Freighter?
The Boeing 777 Freighter is a powerhouse in the air cargo world. Renowned for its range and capacity, this aircraft can haul a whopping 107 tons of cargo across impressive distances. This translates to more efficient and cost-effective transportation for CMA CGM's customers.
What's on the horizon for CMA CGM Cargo?
The first 777 is slated to launch transpacific routes connecting Asia with North America this summer. Specifically, expect to see it gracing the skies between Hong Kong, Chicago, and Seoul. A second aircraft will follow in Q4 of 2024, focusing on routes between mainland China and North America. These initial deployments highlight CMA CGM's commitment to establishing a strong presence in key air freight corridors.
But that's not all! CMA CGM has plans that extend beyond June. They anticipate receiving a third 777 freighter in Q1 of 2025, further solidifying their fleet and expanding their reach. Looking even further ahead, 2026 will see the addition of eight Airbus A350F aircraft, solidifying CMA CGM's position as a major player in the global air cargo market.
