What Happened?

Reports indicate that the pilot was informed about the alleged bomb threat mid-air. This incident comes very close on the heels of another IndiGo Chennai-Mumbai flight (6E-5188) receiving a similar bomb threat on Tuesday, just 40 kilometers before landing in Mumbai. Following standard protocol, the pilot of flight 6E 5314 declared a full emergency and contacted Mumbai Air Traffic Control (ATC). The plane then diverted and landed safely at the Mumbai airport at approximately 8:45 am.

Response and Investigation

Upon landing, IndiGo followed established safety procedures. Passengers were safely deplaned using emergency stairs, and the authorities secured the aircraft for a thorough inspection. The nature of the threat and the origin of the call are currently under investigation.

Indigo released a statement confirming the incident and that the safety of their passengers and crew is their top priority.

What to Expect Now?

The investigation into the bomb threat is likely to be ongoing for some time. Flight delays and cancellations out of Mumbai might be possible as the investigation continues. Passengers flying in or out of Mumbai are advised to check with the airline or airport for the latest updates.

Safety First

This incident highlights the importance of airline safety protocols and the swift action taken by the IndiGo crew. While such threats are undoubtedly unsettling, the aviation industry has strict procedures in place to handle them and ensure passenger safety.
