Air India Express in Turbulence

Discontent amongst Air India Express cabin crew members regarding HR policy changes, particularly those related to the upcoming merger with AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India), led to a mass sick leave on May 8th. This resulted in the cancellation of over 70 flights, causing major inconvenience for travellers.

Air India Takes Off to the Rescue

Demonstrating solidarity and commitment to minimizing passenger disruption, Air India announced they would operate flights on 20 routes originally scheduled by Air India Express. This move helped mitigate the situation for a significant portion of affected passengers.

Relief for Passengers, Questions Remain

While Air India's intervention provided some relief, over 80 flights still faced cancellations. Passengers whose flights were grounded were offered the option of a full refund or rescheduling on a later date.

A Collaborative Approach

Air India's swift action to support its subsidiary highlights the importance of collaboration within airline groups. This incident also underscores the need for open communication and addressing employee concerns to maintain smooth operations.

Air travellers are advised to stay updated on the situation and confirm their flight status directly with Air India or Air India Express before heading to the airport.
