Starting on April 20, 2024, passengers flying between Mahé and Colombo will enjoy enhanced connectivity and travel options, with Air Seychelles customers gaining access to over 20 sought-after destinations, including Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, as well as various cities across India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
This newfound collaboration enables seamless travel between Mahé and Colombo, with travelers benefiting from the convenience of single-ticket booking and checked-through baggage to their final destinations. SriLankan Airlines CEO Richard Nuttall expressed enthusiasm about expanding their network into Africa through this partnership, emphasizing the commitment to providing customers with an array of African destination choices in the years ahead.
The codeshare agreement follows Air Seychelles' successful launch of non-stop flights to Sri Lanka nine months ago, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities from up to 12 hours to approximately four hours. With the codeshare in place, the partnership between the two airlines is set to facilitate even greater convenience and connectivity for passengers, enhancing their overall travel experience.
This strategic alliance not only strengthens Air Seychelles' position in the international market but also underscores its commitment to promoting tourism in the Seychelles. Last month, the national carrier signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tourism Seychelles to further boost the country's visibility as a premier tourist destination. With a robust network expansion strategy and a focus on enhancing the customer experience, Air Seychelles continues to play a pivotal role in driving tourism and connectivity to the picturesque Seychelles archipelago.
