Honeywell has introduced a new cloud-based platform powered by its Forge technology, utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to assist manufacturers and MROs in modernizing production processes and reducing operational expenses. Honeywell Performance+ for Aerospace is part of the company's broader initiative to support the advancement of automation within the aerospace industry.

Karen Miller, general manager of Honeywell Connected Aerospace, highlighted the importance of leveraging data for informed decision-making and embracing automation in the face of growing workplace complexity and operating costs. She emphasized the platform's potential to address challenges such as aging fleets, rising maintenance expenses, and supply chain disruptions, enabling organizations to achieve objectives like faster turnarounds, improved asset utilization, and reduced maintenance durations.

The platform aims to enhance operational awareness and streamline asset management tasks, including the swift location of assets. It also seeks to streamline data management by integrating predictive maintenance, site optimization, and workforce intelligence functionalities into a unified interface.

Michael Rowe, vice president of Aerospace & Defence industry analysis at Frost & Sullivan, noted the pressing need for aerospace companies to enhance operational efficiency and gain better asset visibility. He highlighted the hurdles posed by disjointed and manual processes, citing instances where MRO teams face a multitude of open maintenance actions. Rowe emphasized the role of software solutions like Honeywell Forge Performance+ for Aerospace in prioritizing tasks with the greatest operational impact, thus boosting productivity and minimizing costly downtime.
